Because of Mr. Acosta, I've been more into comic books. I used to be in his Art Of The Comic enrichment last semester. We went on two awesome field trips, one was the comic book store called First Aid Comics, and our second field trip was a trip after school to the movies to see Thor part two. Ever since we went to the comic book store, I've been wanting to go a lot, but my mom wouldn't let me. But sometimes I would go there if I'm in the car with my dad because he also likes comic books. I've went three times already and the most recent I went was on Thursday, I got a KIck-A comic, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Comic, and a Kick-A movie poster. Because of my ex best friend, I got into rock music. She showed me the first band I ever listened to when I was about in the sixth or seventh grade. I have an interest in a lot of bands. So many bands that it's hard to choose which is my favorite. I also have tons of songs on my phone and IPod and also many posters, CDs, and band merch. Because of my friend, Javiar, I'm a lot more interested in learning how to play the guitar. I also find it a little easier considering I already play the flute. My friend Javiar talked me into him teaching me how to play the guitar, at first I thought it would be hard to play, but I got the hang of it. We had to stop though because he's a senior so he's busy most of the time, but he said he would start teaching me again soon. -Jocelyn Torres
Because of Mrs. Burret, I was able to graduate from 8th grade. She is the teacher that helped me a lot in the end and did everything she could possibly do to help me graduate. My worse grade was for her class, reading. It was because I do not like to read and since it was something we had to do in class and for homework I did not really pay attention or do my homework. She never gave us too much homework, yet I still did not do it. And when my asked me if I had done my homework, I would always say yes or that Mrs. Burret gave us no homework.
If I did not bring my grade up I was not going to be able to graduate and I would have to go to summer school. Which by the way, was something I did not wanted to do. My three teacher, my mom, and I had a meeting about my grades. They all said the same thing. That i was really smart and capable of doing all the work without any problem and possibly more. And that I was just not doing what was asked for me to do. I said that I was going to start to do all my homework and get my grades up. A week later I was still not doing all of my homework. Then I do not know why I felt different. I started to do my homework, but I thought I was still not going to be able to graduate.
Mrs. Burret noticed that i was doing my homework. There was only about three weeks for me to get my grades up. And it would have been impossible to get them high enough to graduate. But thanks to her, I was able to. She gave me a lot of extra credit to do. that helped a lot, but still it was not enough. One day she called me and a friend out to the hallway to talk to us. She told us that since we had been trying so hard to do our homework and that we were showing that we did want to graduate, he would talk to the principal.
As soon as she told us about that. The principal , Mrs. Lisa, Past by. Mrs Burret said " Hi, can I talk to you about them for a moment?", " Oh hey, are these the boys you were talking to me about?" Mrs. Lisa said. " Yes" Mrs. Burret answered. And so Mrs. Burret asked her if she would let her change our grades from the first quarter, since those were our worse grades. Mrs. Lisa said sure like nothing and the she walked away.
I felt so relieved after she said yes. Mrs. Burret smiled and told us to go back in the classroom. When I got back to my seat the bell rung. And it was time to leave. Before me and my friend left she called us over and gave us some papers. She told us that we had to do something in order for her to change our grade. I happily took the papers and thanked her. When I turned them in my grades went up and I graduated.
because of my dad i am scared of hights and the reason that my dad had influenced me to be scared of hights is because when i was a little kid my dad had picked me up and put me on his shoulder really high and i looked down and i had got really scared so i threw up on the floor. another reason why my dad made me scared of hights was because when i was little my dad sent me to a day care and the took everyone on a hike and we ended up going to a hill and i looked down and didnt like what i saw so i got reallyed scared and told the teacher to take me down so we did. finally when i was 12 years old my dad took me to sixs flag and told me to go on the raging bull so i did because i didnt want to wait for him so when we got on the ride and i saw how big it was and when we got to the top i was screaming get me off this ride im going to die please get me off this ride when i got off i went to a trash can and threw up really badly. - Brandon Cerero
Because of my granny i'm in good shape and well taken care of. my granny made a big impact in my life before her death. i still cherish and think about the things she taught me as i got older. because of my granny i try to be the best i could be, do nothing but strive for greatness. my granny taught me alot as i was getting older. i really didnt care of half the things she said to me. sometimes it with in one ear and out the other, but now that i look back to it . i realize like my granny was right. because of my granny, i do a little bit better than how i was in grammar school i still could try harder. though . because of my granny she made a big change in my life, when she was alive i loved being around her, we had a lot of things to talk about. i just wish she was here to see my progress now. its way better than grammar school. because of my granny. i am who i am today.
Because of My best friend , she taught me not to let everything get to me ,and when i'm feeling down and need to talk she always there. because of my bestfriend i never gave up on life and my family, because of my best friend there always a smile on my face when she around. because of my bestfriend i can always have someone around. because of my best friend when i get to an argument with someone, i keep calm or just write to myself. because of my bestfriend i stop doing things that i knew that was going to affect me in the future. because of my best friend i learn from my mistakes. im glad that i have a bestfriend like her because she never gave on me even when i felt as though i gave up on myself.
Because of my mother , i am in a school i don't want to be in, because of my mother i am getting a good education. because of my mother i try my best to get along with others. because of my mother i love hearing people out and giving advice. because of my mother ,sometimes i act the way that i do, because of my mother i have made a big turnaround in life because not just my bestfriend and my granny . i always had my mother by my side as well , because of my mother i try to forget the things she cause me to feel hurt. because of my mother i have to get along with my older brother, because of my mother i live life to the fullest, because of my mother i never hold grudges because life is to short for all that, because of my mother i am here today on this earth . Because of my dad i enjoy playing the sport of baseball, the reason why is because i have been playing since i was five and i feel like i could be one of the greats one day. because i want to live my dads dream and play in the MLB because he had a chance but couldn't do it because he had heart problems at the time. so now i think i can make it and i could live the dream for my dad.
Because of my cousin christian i feel down the stairs and had to get 5 stitches in my head, i remember walking down the stairs when i was ran into by him which caused me to fall down the stairs. i was on the floor as dizzy as ever and i couldn't move, my dad was walking up the stairs and he saw me on the floor bleeding from my head so they rushed me to the hospital and i got 5 stitches.
Because of my brother i no longer have to throw out the trash out because my mom told him that he needs to start throwing it out. it really makes me happy because i hated throwing out the trash because it smells and i have to walk down the drive way and put it in the trash can which can be alot of work and its also cold at the time so its even harder.-BRANDON CAMARILLO
Because of my father I now like to play more video games than doing my homework. It is a bad thing that he tought me because now I do less homework and I like to play more video games and watch T.V. I sometimes now only complete a little bit of homework just to play more video games and it is bad because I am not doing very good in school. Now I like playing more video games than going outside and every time a new video game comes out I buy it and play it. Now that I got bad grades my dad took away the video games and is making me do all my homework and helps me on it.
Because of My older brother, Oscar, Now I enjoy reading and I understand it. Since seventh grade I haven’t read my own independent reading book because I lost interest in reading because it got boring. Then in ninth grade Ms. Scheer failed me in her class because I didn’t read any books she assigned me to read and everyday we had to answer the questions on a quiz I failed them because I didn’t like to read and because I didn’t understand what I sometimes read. Then when my brother saw my report card he was mad because he told me that literature was the easiest subject in the school. I told him why I failed the class and he helped me understand how to like reading and I got interested into reading again.
Because of my 8th grade teacher Mr. White I am now more organized. In 8th grade I was a slob. I had my desk so disorganized that when I put a paper in it was already lost in my desk. Every day when we had to turn in homework I had to hold up the class because I was looking for my homework in my bookbag for about 5 minutes until one day Mr. White had enough of my mess. After school he told me to wait and talked to me about my disorganization. He told me to show him my desk and my bookbag. He took out all the papers and put them on top of my desk. I asked him where would I put it. Mr. White made me buy folders and when I did he marked them all with all the subjects in school. After a week of organization my grades significantly went up.
Because of Mr.Morris my old dean of discipline, I knew what I had to do coming out of middle school. Mr.Morris taught me discipline and moral for the future. Without him I would not be at uic today. He has impacted my life in a big way. He also encouraged me to do better all the time. Because of my best friend(Demaris Wright), I started to speak out more. Demaris has made me speak and participate more. Doing these things that have made me the person I am today. Without him I wouldn’t talk as much as I do today. He’s the best. Because of my mom, I am the person I am today. My mom always believe in me. She encouraged me every day when I leave home. She helps me when I need it. She there even before I know I need help. Because of my lil cousin I know how to take care of babies. I have been watching my lil cousin for about 7 years now. I watch him because his mother have to work early in the morning and come home late at night. This is good for me because when I have my baby soon, I will know how to take care of it. I will know how to take care of him/her because my auntie let me help her raise her son. My lil cousin father is in jail so I have to step up and teach him how to be a better man than me and his father.
Because of my mama I am here on this earth today. Without my mama there will be no Jemone Kuykendoll. My mama had to raise me all by herself and I know it was hard raising a hard head. This is why I give alot of credit to my mama and not my father even though he play a big role in my life.
Because of my daddy I am a young arrogant male. I say this because I watched how my daddy did his business in life. My dream was to be like my daddy. My father taught me how to survive the streets and how to live threw fast and hard situations. This is why I love my daddy because he showed me how to survive and every thing he told me I did it and thats probably is why I am still alive on this earth other than god letting me live.
Because of Mike Fuentes I have been reaching for perfection when it comes to drumming because he is such an awesome drummer. Mike Fuentes impacts me musically because when listening to some pierce the veil songs the drumming in some of the songs used to be kind of difficult for me but when I really focused on the beat of the drums and because of that I am now a better drummer than I was thanks to Mike Fuentes.
Because of my sister I now try harder in school because she always told me that there would always be people that were gonna doubt me all the time and my job is to prove them wrong because no one else can decide my future for me except for myself. My sister changed my life positively because she taught me to never give up and to prove myself each and everyday. She also told me that once I prove everyone wrong It will make them shut up and make them stop talking.
Because of Joey Jordison I have been much better drummer because when it comes to playing songs from his old band slipknot and his new band scar the martyr I am faster and a bit much more intense when it cones to playing insane metal songs. Because of Joey I have become faster when it comes to double bass pedal because when you hear him in the song disasterpiece he is insane when it comes to plying drums and its insane because he is super fast on the double bass pedal. Joey has Imapacted my life positively in heavy metal. -jafet mendoza
Because of my Dad passing away it's really helped me to take more responsibilities with my family.When he passed I told myself that I have to set a example for others to follow so that they could see me as a role model. It has been a tough experience to go through, but although I've had some very hard times in my life I want to be a vigorous scholar so that I could go to college. My father would be so proud that I'm thinking about going to college while I'm still going to high school. Because of Kevin Colemen as a positive role model who has always helped and encouraged me to do my best whenever I'm at school or talking to some old friends that I haven't seen in a while. His advice has really inspired me to do so many things and he always helps me whenever I need help with my community service hours for UICCP so I could pass that class. Because of my mom I have had so many great experiences with her . She has always helped me with everything that I do, if it was for her I wouldn't be me at all. Whenever I'm feeling down she's always there to pick me up so I know that I always have her to help back me up. My mother has inspired me to do my best in schoolwork so that I can succeed. Ian Sample
